How long have you been part of NAI Global?

Our office has been a Member of NAI Global since 2003.  I joined NAI NP Dodge in 2010 as an independent broker after working 19 years as Executive VP of commercial properties for another local developer.  I was promoted to President in 2012 and also act as the managing broker.

If you are the owner, why did you choose to be part of the NAI Global network?

I joined NAI NP Dodge because of the benefits and opportunities presented when belonging to a global network.  I also saw great potential to strengthen their retail group.

How has being part of the NAI Global network impacted your business?

Being a part of the NAI Global network has brought more opportunities for our brokers to increase their earnings, both by receiving referrals from other members and by sending outbound assignments. We work with other regional NAI firms and together host a handful of regional networking/sales training events annually.

I have benefited in my position by the sharing of information with other owners and managers on topics such as: efficiently and effectively managing the office, sales training opportunities, desk costs, and commission splits. 

What is the biggest commercial real estate trend currently impacting your local market?

The downtown office market is currently in a flux as ConAgra recently announced they will relocate 300 jobs to Chicago and will also eliminate an additional 1,000 jobs.  That presents a widespread of opportunities on their six acre, downtown campus.

The industrial market has seen record low vacancies with little spec space being built.  Thus that segment of real estate has been stale for the past year or so.

How is your brokerage setting itself apart from its competitors? And, how is being part of the NAI Network helping you to set yourself apart?

NAI NP Dodge is part of the NP Dodge Company, the country’s longest running real estate company in the country.  We stress honesty and excellent client care.  All agents have access to the same information so some of the ways we differentiate ourselves is to always be professional, respond to calls and requests in a timely manner and go above and beyond what is expected by the client.  Service exceeding client expectations.

Being a part of a larger organization that offers so many more tools, one of the many being RealTrac, gives us an advantage over smaller, local companies.  Branding with NAI Global also offers very professional, quality marketing materials.  For unique assignments, it’s possible to reach out across the network to find another agent that may have had a similar assignment and is willing to share information which may lead to a more successful assignment for our agents.
